Improving the lives of people behind bars in West Virginia
The Community Collaborative Council (CCC) is a project committed to the health, safety, and dignity of people incarcerated in West Virginia. The Community Collaborative Council will…
-
Receive reports of issues impacting people in jail
-
Provide the public with a more accurate picture of the harms occurring behind bars
-
Build a community of people affected by the criminal system
How Tickets Work
We know that West Virginians are already supporting people behind bars. By reporting an issue, families, lawyers, and service providers can contribute to a community-based resource that sheds light on conditions in WV jails.
Receiving Issue Reports
The CCC operates an easy-to-use portal where the loved ones of people incarcerated in our state, as well as people released in the last 6 months, can report the issues our people are facing while in WV's regional jail system.
Tracking and Reporting
While respecting the confidentiality of submitters, the CCC will practice the transparency we hope to see in our facilities. We will report issues commonly impacting our people to provide a more accurate picture of the harms occurring behind bars.
Building a Coalition
We are stronger together. Each person who reports an issue is invited to participate in the WV Criminal Law Reform Coalition, a group dedicated to reducing the number of people behind bars in our state.
Need answers?
The CCC maintains a library of resources including a how-to guide for navigating the grievance process, an index of current Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) policy directives, and more.
Meetings and Trainings
We know we are stronger together, and the CCC is committed to creating opportunities for us to learn from and lean on each other.
